I was able to
change the password without restrictions by using the
CTRL-ALT-DEL sequence and selecting change password.
The password restrictions only seemed to be applied when a
password expired and I changed the password at login:-
PPM only has hooks to check for password policy compliance at
login time or when changing password (during login) due to
expiry. Any other methods of changing password (e.g. the Novel
red "N" in the system bar, Ctrl-Alt-Del, dos-based
utilities, etc.) should be configured-off / deleted &
locked-down to prevent use. If not, the next time a
non-compliant password is used at login, PPM will force it to be
changed. PPM has a utility ("PPMcpwd95.exe" for W9x or
"PPMcpwdNT.exe" for WinNT/2K/XP) that can be used from
the system tray instead - where it is desired for users to be
able to change their passwords outside the NDS defined cycle -
which does check against the NDS policy & only allows
compliant passwords to be created.

Can PPM be used
to Synchronise to multiple NT/2000 servers/domains?-
PPM can't synchronise the password on multiple NT
domains/freestanding server/freestanding w/s. It can:
1. Make your NDS password stronger (it's main function)
2. Synchronise your NT password with that of the NDS; Either -
a. At the workstation if the w/s is free-standing (not
part of a domain); Or -
b. At the Domain that the w/s logs onto if it is a member
of a domain.
There are other products that may be able to do multiple NT
synchronisation but I'm afraid we don't know enough about them
to recommend which & how they should be used. Really, PPM's
speciality is the NDS password strength & the sync'ing to
one NT system. Then the other systems would be needed to
pass that on to further NT systems
